Create references by pasting a URL or dragging and dropping an asset

Users want to create references between objects by pasting a URL or using drag and drop, in addition to the existing reference finder — making the process faster and more intuitive for everyday workflows. Problem / Pain: Currently, references between objects can only be created using the built-in reference finder. While this works, it requires several steps and is the only available path. Users who know the URL of an asset or object have no way to use that URL to create a reference directly. The same applies to drag and drop, which is a natural and widely expected interaction pattern for linking related content in modern tools. Impact / Benefit: Supporting URL paste and drag and drop as additional ways to create references would make the process significantly faster and more flexible for users who work across multiple objects or tabs. It would reduce the number of steps needed for a common task and bring the interaction closer to what users expect from modern content management tools. Example use case: A PIM manager is working on a product record and wants to reference a related asset they have open in another browser tab. Instead of opening the reference finder and searching for the asset, they copy the URL from the browser and paste it directly into the reference , creating the reference in one step.
